Soccer camp

Mr. F is registered at Concordia U's soccer camp for the week. Apparently everyone from dad to coach forgot that the kids need to put on some sunblock... look at the results below. As for the level of learning, apparantly they're not doing very much. They don't even stop to take a mid-morning snack...

week-end update!

This week-end we pulled the kids out of daycamp early on Friday, they missed going to the puppet theatre. To make up for it, I took out all the puppets and they put on a puppet show for us. My dad came to pick us up to head over to his house for some camping. When we arrived, we went to pick some berries on the neighbour's field. We found this teeny tiny toad, it's the size of a berry! And the berries were small, you can see another one in Miss C's hand in the next picture.

Here's Mr. F sound asleep in the tent. It was soooo dark I couldn't see what I was shooting. Forgot to take day pics. My mattress (kingsize) was too big for the new tent (which I thought was a steal at $25, no kidding, it's sooo small) so we had to borrow Mrs. SB's mattress which sadly deflated on us by 2am. By then, the rain was pouring hard, and the water was seaping threw, so I woke the kids up and set them up on the porch where we spent the next 2 nights.

Here's Miss C walking Mrs. SB's new puppy dog (well, it's not a puppy, but it's a small dog). It's a real funny doggy! But poor dog is sick and has to take some medicine daily :(

Now here's a real big frog sitting on a rock!

More stuff from our week-end of fun...

How could one refuse to bring home such a cute face ;)

A life size replica of the Terminator!

finally finished reading...

I'm finally done with the book, I must say, work and the kids kinda really got in the way of my reading ;) Sadly, I have bought the american version of the book, the cover is really not as nice as the Canadian edition (same as Brit).

Although I really, really love my iPod sleeve as shown here, I've been hooked on these Umbra bungee wallets and change pocket, so how could I resist the iPod sleeve! How cool are those Umbra things!!!

Devil sleeve, you will be back in my heart.

Love, love, love these bracelets by Umbra!

Sunday July 22, 07

I finally got around to cracking HP open. BUT I'm not doing a reading marathon like I did for all first 6 books. Soooooo I took a shower, fed the kids, got dressed and we went on a Plateau shopping spree. Boy, we emptied Mr. C's wallet!!!

We got some cupcakes from Petits Gateaux, sadly, my pictures are way too white to upload, but for once, a local bakery (I haven't tried Cocoa Locale yet) has decent cupcakes.

I found a belt to use with my cupcake belt buckle! How cute is that buckle!!!

We wanted to stop at Schwartz, but boy the lineup was way tooooo long. The kids were a teeny bit upset, they love the thin sausages.

I got a new skull t-shirt by Clic Klak (it's the same mode as the one with the skull, but it's small skulls on the side, so somewhat descreet enough to wear on a Friday at the office...) I got it at Cruella. Love that store, although it would nicer to fit in their clothes... ***reminder to self, lose weight***

We did make a stop at Chez Farfelu, and miracle, we didn't buy anything!!!

we were all exhausted by the time we got home.

Saturday July 21/07

So the day started off with me packing our stuff for a day on the road and a night away. Then mr C couldn't find our camera spare battery nor the charger, so I was to blame... but he found it. Then, I checked my bang balance, cr@p, I went over my limit, so I request an overdraft protection and get declined, apparently, I'm not "solvable", whatever that means when you own a house...

so we do a deposit to cover the bounced payment fee of $35. fun. Then off to W-M to get the new HP book, sadly, it's $27 + tx so I didn't buy it. Back home, I forgot my runners and Miss C didn't bring a hat like I had told her too. We leave to hit the road, the highway is backed up, soooo we taKe another bridge off the island. Take Victoria bridge, drive all the way to St-Jean-sur-Richelieu by the small roads to get to the , a corn maze built in a corn field. This was $, you even have to pay for the map which we should have done without. We missed half the entertainment 'cause we arrived at lunch, btw, food sucks. The entertainment we did see was however very good! Felix got to be a knight and fought the blight knight.

We were then headed to Caro's campground in Rouses Point at the Kings Bay Campground. We were on road 223, OMG, the wait was awful... it was not going forward at all. Soooo, we turned around, drove to road 225, but big, big line up again. Last cross border, 221. Much, much better. We waited for 30 minutes. Went to the campground, the kids had fun. Felix splashed in the water with Xavier
while Miss C only got her feet wet

We left at 6:30ish which was a little late to get to Colchester's Sunset Drive-In as we had planned. Still, we went to Plasttsburgh to eat at Honk Kong Jade buffet upon Nathalie's recommendation, it was very good!!!! Total, US$35 for 2 adults, 2 kids including crab legs, frogs legs... We really don't like buffets, but it was really surprisingly good for a buffet.

We decided to forgo the movie and go shopping, so off to look for a room to sleep... EVERYTHING EVERWHERE is booked solid... their are 3 big events in the area that week-end... the Clinton County Fair, the Iron Man and a reunion of airsomething or other. soooo we don't have a room (unless we took the one in the trashy motel on Route 9, smelly bad, no tv, only a light bulb, gross for $60 no dealing...). BAck to Caro's to announce we won't be there the next day, we're hitting the road back to Montreal. So no shopping, no going to the drive-in, no motel, no cheap groceries, no kids playing with Caro's kids. sigh. We got home at 11:30, beat.

Ok, gross...

I spent over an hour removing some flower (look like tiger lilies, but are not) and the bulbs (which were sooooo strongly attached to the ground) on the side of the house. Those long stemmed orange flowers are the ugliest thing, I don't know why I didn't remove them completely last summer. Anywho. The stems/leaves were full of earwigs... totally gross.

Then I found a bunch of ants, ran in the house to get some water boiling, twice.

I haven't finished removing all the flowers, but hope to be done soon. I need to get at least 3 more bags of dirt to completely rehaul the side of the house as well as some wood chips to stop the weed growth. I will then transplant my pumpkin plants as well as my strawberry.

Soccer rantings...

So they finally found a new coach for Miss C's team, well she seems to be into it, they initiated a game against a team about the same age, which is awesome. They even assigned positions, their again awesome, BUT since their were only 7 kids on the play at once, that meant 10 kids were sitting out. So Miss C was sitting out and sitting out and sitting out. The two other girls each went out twice. Soooo 2 mins to 8 I decide I'm done talking with the other parents I need to take that kid out. Well the coach complains that she was about to put her in the game!!!!!!!

Ok, now my vent about Mr. F's team, why the heck do parents put their kids in a sports if they will never show up??? They had 11-12 kids in that team and I've yet to see more then 5. Last night, they had 3 kids!!! And they played a younger team with a very bad attitude, why the heck would you go chanting "we won with our fingers up our nose, they lost with their fingers up their butt", VERY RUDE! I told the kid to stop that, but obviously, parents don't give a cr@p.

Hawaiian day at Circus Camp...

Apparently they were the best dressed... well, we only got the warning on Monday for Tuesday and stores close at 6... so no time to shop. Good thing Caro also has hawaiin parties which helped in us having some stuff, but we did find an opened dollar store.

hum... pictures found on my camera...

No clue where in Montreal those pictures were taken, I'd have to ask the clown...

This morning's breakfast recipe... strawberry scones

From Family Fun, but transformed to my liking

Strawberry chocolate scones

RECIPE INGREDIENTS:
1/2 cup chocolate chips
1 cup hulled and finely diced fresh strawberries
2 cups flour (1 cup white and 1 cup whole wheat)
1/3 cup sugar, plus a little for sprinkling
1 tablespoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
6 tablespoons cold, cream cheese, cut into 1/4-inch pieces
1/2 cup plus 1 tablespoon light cream
1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1. Heat your oven to 425°F. Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper, using a few spots of butter or cooking oil to stick it in place. Set the baking sheet aside.

2. Place the diced strawberries on several sheets of paper towel to absorb their juice. Meanwhile, combine the flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, and nutmeg in a large bowl. Zest half of the lemon into the ingredients, taking care to remove just the outermost skin and not the white pith.

3. Cut in the butter with two butter knives or a pastry blender until the flour-coated pieces are the size of peas. Add the strawberries, tossing them gently with a fork to coat them.

Ooooo, I want the new Rusty Pickles papers...

How cool are those papers?

And should I start to knit, I would need to visit the domiKNITrix site!

How fast they grow...
