Last day of January! Day 31/365

Squeaky clean kiddies!

Jan. 30 | day 30/365

Here's Mr F at the aerial station during circus school. He can't be compared to his sister on that.

30 days of love | Countdown to Valentine's Day

How about making your own candy? I love to make lollipops, either hard candy or chocolate. Their are so many sites to find candy molds I won't even bother including any links.

Jan. 29 | Day 29/365

It was suck a cold day!

January 28 | Day 28/365

This is a not-so clear view of the heavy snow that was falling when I went to get the mail this afternoon.

30 days of love - Countdown to Valentine

Beautiful chocolate-dipped strawberry bouquet.

Jan 27, 2010 | Day 27/365

The only pic I got today, didn't even get the usual morning pics since I had forgotten the camera at home. Miss C sleeping with Missy ;)

Miss Funny Face

Workout... ouch

It was awful. The place was soooo crowded.
45 mins stationary bike
15 mins rowing
12 mins treadmill

30 Days of Love - Countdown to Valentine's Day

Here's for the tacky gift, but no imagination today!

Jan 25, 2010 | Day 25/365

The fog. It was so warm and with all the rain that it was just turning into fog.

30 days of Love | 20 days til Valentine's Day

Sometimes comfort is more important then style. I love this one-piece pj from PajamaGram. It certainly would be comfy on a winter gateway.

Jan. 24 | Day 24/365

>She almost made it to the top

30 days of Love | Jan. 25

I love books. We have a selection of holiday books too in our book shelves. The "If you give a ... a ...." series is really fun and they have added a Valentine's day. Have a look inside.

Jan. 23, 2010 | Day 23/365

Mr Clown Man got the kids a pen with light. It has special invisible ink which you can see with the black light. So she has a special message written on her forehead ;)

30 days of love | Countdown to Valentine

If I had my choice between chocolate and caramel, I'd pick caramel. Foodzie is a great artisan food site. It is similar to Etsy in the sense that is is artisan. So here's my pick, Valentine's caramel

Jan 22, 2010 | Day 22/365

No goodnight kiss, I came home to a sleeping boy. He's so funny, he's got that piece of fabric wrapped around his arm, he's even worn it like that to school for 2 weeks. Kids!

30 days of love / Countdown to Valentine

Today I'm showcasing a product which I LOVE! The Flip & Tumble reusable bags. It's not the smallest reusable bags that I own, but they are cute and fun. The shoulder strap is useful in a different way then the bags that are t-shirt shaped.

Jan. 21 / Day 21/365

The kids are really into Green Day right now. The boy listens to Boul. of Broken Dreams non-stop, so I decided to give Miss C her toddler t-shirt. It's a size 4, she's 8!

30 days of love / Countdown to Valentine's day

How about some pillow talk. US$36 from BoldLoft. They have some more cute couple stuff, shirts, glasses and more pillows

Jan. 20 | Day 20/365

Not very original, but that's all the pictures I took today, the morning school pic.

30 days of love - Countdown to Valentine's day - Kitchenware

I just love this knife holder, but in pink! Wow! Currently on sale for US$69.95 at Amazon.com, too bad they don't ship to Canada!

went to the gym, boy it was crowded! Worst then last week. When I arrived, all the machines were taken except for 4 rowers.
20 row (3K)
25 bike
20 treadmill (6mph)

Jan 19, 2010 | Day 19/365

This little squirrel just wanted to have his snapshot taken.

30 days of love - Countdown to Valentine's day

I really like this "I heart nerds" t-shirt... (can't post a pic, but here's another one from Threadless.com)

Jan 18 | Day 18/365

I really do have nerdy kids! And yes, I had a great day food-wise and go screw it up with some Chinese food. ARgh! Well, I'm going to the gym tomorrow, but I'll also have to make it up by not cheating on my meals. Cereal with soy and banana for breakfast, yogourt for snack, spinach salad and I have no clue for supper.

30 days of love - Countdown to Valentine

Here are some sweet suggestions to make with or without kids :

- Heart shaped Rice Krispies treats made with strawberry marshmallow or use freeze dried red berries
- Make homemade strawberry marshmallow and cut into hearts using a heart shaped cookie cutter (the recipe from Brownie Points has been tried and tested and works wonderfully!)
- How about some cake truffles like Bakerella makes. The red velvet cake is perfect! But once again, any pink cake would do. I personally prefer a cherry cake.
- Let's not forget heart-shaped cookies, but filling them with a nice raspberry jam is even better!

Here's another suggestion to make or buy from Williams Sonoma :

Jan 17 | Day 17/365

We went to the zoo today. It was such a warm day for mid-january. Here's a pic of the animal I most wanted to see "tigre d'amour". Sadly, they were all taking a nap. Don't you just love the little pink tongue sticking out, just like a house cat!

Valentine countdown - Fun craft for kids to make for friends

Here's a craft from Family Fun using craft paper and round lollipops. Fairly easy to make.

Jan 16 | 16/365

Reading in bed. For some reason, the kids just love this comic strip. It's french, the series is "Les Légendaires". They borrow the books from the library over and over again. So they stared getting them for gifts before and at Christmas. Now they are buying them with their own money. The 12th issue is coming out soon. At least, it's a good investment when a book is read more then once! (they've read them at least 5 times each!)

Valentine countdown - Jewelry

Instead of a fading rose, why not a rose ring. I'd like it! From Plasticland.

Jan 15 | 15/365

My little ballerina. First class this winter.

Countdown to Valentine's day... Treat your dog

Our pets take are a big part of our lives, why not treat your beloved doggy for Valentines with this little find from k9confections $9.99 for a box of 6. If you prefer to make your own cookies to share with your pup, here's the link to a carob cookie recipe from Food Network (no I have not tried this recipe).

Jan 14 | Day 14/365

The rule of 365 photos in 365 is that their are no rules. Since I had a class tonight and that I don't get to take many pics during the day, here's my little punky Hello Kitty doll that used to hang on my bag.

Countdown to Valentine's day... one month away

Please don't shoot me! I'm not a big lovey dovey Valentine believer. To me, Valentine's is just an extra day to tell those around you that you love them and miss them when they are away. But since I need something to blog about, I thought I'd do a Valentine's day countdown with products, recipes and crafts related to hearts, pink and red that I like. So let's start with the amazing 2-quart Le Creuset pot found at cooking.com for US$149.95. It is also offered in Canada at Golda's Kitchen for C$210.

Jan 13, 2010 | Day 13 of 365

This is one of the morning pics from this morning. I just thought it was funny how the "girl" is blurry while the "boy" is nice and clear.

Day 2 at the gym..

The place was unpleasantly crowded. I got there, couldn't start on the treadmill so I went to a stationary bike, followed by the rower since the treadmills were all still taken.

22 mins bike
12 mins row
12 mins uphill treadmill.

Jan. 12 / Picture 12/365

Not a great picture, but it tells a story. Mr F was playing on the puter and playing with his loose tooth. It fell with a push of his tongue. He was so happy to not have a cat pull out his tooth ;)

One of my goals this year is to clean up my stash of recipes...

To achieve my goal, I will use my blog to archive some of my favorite recipes. I will post them as I cook them so that I can try to take a picture of the result. In the end, I will have less paper in my recipe binder. I might print them out on cards to add to my recipe box, but no more binder.

The first three recipes I posted (red soup, green soup and mushroom/chicken pasta) are recipes that I make regularly and end up looking for the recipe each time. Now I'll just have to pop the laptop on the counter to get ready to cook!

Creamy Chicken and Mushroom Fettuccine (adapted from ilovepasta.org)

12 oz fettuccine, uncooked
8 oz boneless, skinless chicken cut into 1/2-inch cubes (I use chicken breast)
8 oz mushrooms, sliced
1/2 cup dices red bell pepper
1 1/2 cup low-fat mayonnaise
3/4 cup skim milk
1/4 cup Parmesan cheese
1/2 tespoon paprika
Salt and pepper to taste

Cook the pasta al-dente.
Coat a large pan with cooking spray. Add the chicken and sauté over medium-high heat, stirring frequently, until the chicken is golden brown and cooked through, about 4 minutes. Remove the chicken from the pan. Recoat the skillet with cooking spray. Add the mushrooms and the red peppers and sauté until tender (about 5 minutes).

In a 500 mL jar, combine the mayonnaise, milk, cheese, paprika and S&P. Pour over the vegetables, add the chicken and heat over medium-low heat until thoroughly heated.

When the pasta is done, drain and return to the pasta pot. Add the pan conteent and mix well. Serve immediately.

2 bunches watercress, rough stems removed
1/2 cup milk (optional) - or add a dollop of sour cream to each bowl

In a large pot, melt the butter, add the leeks and onions, sauté for 5 minutes on medium heat.
Stir in the stock, potato, salt and pepper. Bring to a boil.
Reduce the heat and simmer, uncovered, until the potato is done (about 20 minutes).

Jan. 10 / Day 10/365

Ok, I don't know what I'm doing wrong, but just a bit of moving from the subject and I get a fuzzy picture. Anyways, this is Miss C at her aerial class.

Jan. 9 | Day 9/365

Very blurry picture, not the best of the day, but it captures a great scene. The kids are now in the same class at circus school and while they were both supposed to be practicing their jumps, they stopped for a chat.

I did it!

I hit the gym!!! I spent 55 mins on various cardio machines. Feels good!

Jan. 8, 10 | Day 8/365

Here's my little nerdy boy. Always has something to read close by and not much will bother him.

January 7, 2010 | Day 7 of 365

So I wanted to do good for me and register to a spin class. Sadly, all the classes were already full. So I decided to registered to the gym. Let's see how often I get to go...

Now for today's picture... We missed Epiphany yesterday because I had a class at 6pm and the bakery was closing at 5pm. So we made up tonight. So here is this year's king.

January 6, 2010 | Day 6

I admit it, today I only had my morning pic of the kids. So I looked around the bed and here's a subject I found. Her white fur reflects too much the flash so I had a tough getting getting an even half-decent picture. So here's Nigiri aka Tite Minette.

Jan. 5 | 5 of 365

Since school started in September, I've been taking almost daily photos in front of the school. Obviously, I lost all of October when I lost my camera. This is the first day back to school, it was mighty cold today.

January 4, 2010 | 4 of 365

Here's another picture of cutie Mr Bebitte. Sleeping on his bag all twisted up.

Jan. 3 | 3 of 365

Here's Mr Bebitte, previously known as Mini Missy until we saw jingle bells, enjoying the Christmas tree lights while I was trying to untangle them to put away.

Last day of nothing to do...

I better start catching up on things. This is the last day with no activities, tomorrow it's back to work for me and the kids start school on Tuesday.

I have to finish the laundry, folded and put away. Complete the calendar for January so that we know who goes where on which day. I have to prepare my school supplies since university starts this week, still unsure about my course load. Plan the meals for the week, quick run to the grocery store.

Most importantly, we have books due at the library, so we need to do a quick run their and select some books.

I'll start by putting a load in the machine and grab a quick wake-me-up shower.

Day 2/365

Miss C got this big Littlest Pet Shop house as a hand-me-down from my cousin. Here's Nigiri enjoying the play area.
